霜天晓角
高观国
春云粉色。
春水和云湿。
试问西湖杨柳,
东风外、
几丝碧。
望极。
连翠陌。
兰桡[1]双桨急。
欲访莫愁[2]何处,
旗亭[3]在、
画桥侧。

注释:
[1]桡:船桨。
[2]莫愁:泛指歌女。
[3]旗亭:暗用唐代诗人王之涣“旗亭画壁”的故事。开元年间,王之涣与王昌龄、高适齐名。一日天寒微雪,三人来旗亭小饮,他们决定以歌伎唱谁的诗多,来比谁的诗名最大。结果最出名的歌伎唱得最多的是王之涣的诗。“旗亭画壁”因此即成典故。

Morning Horn and Frosty Sky
Gao Guanguo
Spring’s rosy clouds are high,
Yet wet with vernal rain.
Ask the lakeside willows trees
How many branches greened by vernal breeze?
I stretch my eyes
Over the vast green plain
And row the two oars across the lake wide.
Where is the songstress fair?
The poet’s pavilion is still there,
By the bridge side.

注释:
This poem describes the beauty of the West Lake. The poet refers to Wang Zhihuan, author of the verse: You can enjoy a grander sight, by climbing to a greater height.

“Morning Horn and Frosty Sky” is the work of Gao Guanguo, a lyricist of the Southern Song Dynasty. The lyrics depict the beautiful scenery of West Lake very vividly and aptly, and express the happy feelings in the heart by doing so, with precise wording, giving people a sense of freshness, the whole lyric is written euphemistically and wonderfully, and the people and the surrounding scenery achieve perfect unity, and the tone is very elegant.
